The world needs a plaster

When i was a kid i had this strange thing that if i was say playing with some mates in my bedroom, and there was a toy car on the floor not being used, i didnt want to play with it. But if one of my friends started to play with the toy car, i would want it. It was only when somebody else had the toy car, that i wanted it. Now this may be considered normal for a young child.

Now im 26, if i had a toy car here, and i wasnt playing with it, i wouldnt be phased if somebody else played with the toy car. I suppose that is part of growing up.

Lets replace that toy car, with say, power. By 'power', i mean authority. And lets replace me and my mates, with say the world leaders, politicians etc. My god they squabble like little kids!!

So as it stands now, in 2010, the world is in a word, well screwed. We have countries fighting for power, trying to convince everybody else that they are indeed, the strongest nation. We have worldwide recessions, and practically everybody living in debt, living beyond their means. Banks screwed up by lending irresponsibly, governements splashed cash on ridiculous things, (wallpaper for a bathroom £600 a roll), and we are guilty ourselves by fueling the downward spiral of the varying economies. We have countries threatening to bomb other countries if their boat enters their water. "We shall nuke you if give us evils."

When i was little, if i fell over, and say grazed my knee, there would be a process to follow.

  • Remain calm until see blood
  • See blood and cry
  • Keep crying
  • Run to my mum, still crying (i say run, i mean hobble. Ive grazed my knee)
  • Point out the offending piece of road
  • Watch my mum smack the tarmac
  • Have a plaster put on the graze

Now, the plaster is the important part. Although it probably served no other purpose than bragging rights to my friends, it was a reassurance to me that everything was going to be ok. I didnt kneed (see what i did their, knee/need) a plaster, but the sight of it filled me with reassurance. Wether it was a boring pink one, or a printed cartoon character plaster, my knee was better. I didnt have to have my leg amputated. Everything was hurrah!!

The world is covered in grazes. So, the world needs a plaster? Well no. What we need to do now, is to admit that a plaster is nothing more than reassurance. So what do we do about the grazes we have covered our own home in? We fix them. easier said than done? Well i am not a politician, or a world leader, or anyone important in the grand scheme of things, but here is my answer to the problems we are currently facing.

First of all, every country needs to take a hit on the chin of its own pride, and admit wrongdoings. We owe billions to each other, and ultimately, money is just numbers. In my wallet i have about 45pence in coins, the rest of my money is in an account, which is digital money. We need to start all over again. Every country needs to wipe every debt it has with other countries. like everyone. And start afresh.

Secondly, every politician, and world leader, needs to put their toy cars away, otherwise they will squabble when somebody else plays with the fastest racing car. This is probably also another pride hit. And throw the nukey bombs in the bin, we stopped this practice ages ago!!

If i owed a friend £10, but he owed me £10, i wouldnt go through the palava of swopping money, id just realise that its a pointless exercise swopping money. This is what the world needs to do. We all live here, we all contribute in some way, so rather than crying about how many millions and billions are owed out, just wipe it. The problem is, if that happened everyone would be equal. And that cant happen because people require empowerment. People want the best toy racing car.

So, actually yeah, the world does need a plaster. If we put a little plaster on the UK, we can brag about it and say everything was ok. if we see a plaster over France, we would tell ourselves France was ok. and that is how we will continue to live, wearing plasters and letting everybody else think we are ok.

So, the next time your child, or your friend falls over, dont put a plaster on actually. That way you will know that you have started to make the world a better place.

A lesson in mistakes.....via Twilight!!

So picture the scene. About a year or so ago, i was MADE to watch twilight. So for people who dont no what it is about, lemme explain for ya in a few short sentences. Girl lives with dad, she fancies a boy, boy is a vampire, she figures it out, another boy fancies her, he is a werewolf, they both try to impress her, vampire boy does one,she gets close to wolf boy, he takes off his top, girls all over the world cream there pants, then vampires and wolves fight together to protect girl from nasty, yet fit, ginger vampire. So, i managed to sum up the story so far as reproduced on film, in a sentence short enough to read in 15 seconds. I hear you cry, "but Scott, why are you writing about Twilight if you seemingly have a low opinion of it?". Well the truth is, i actually admire Twilight. I like the storylines, i like the plot, i like Alice because she is absolutely stunning. But i think Twilight deals with some issues subliminely(sp), without the average viewer realising this. let me try and explain. Go back about 5 years or so ago, and we had goths and emo's, and all sorts of weird trends that were going around. I admit, a goth bird, or a tattood bird, did, and still does, gives me the major horn. Kat Von D, anyone? So there were these folk, mainly teenagers aged from say 16-19, that adopted this new slightly weird fashion, where hair was all messy and black, and they wore dark clothes and basically didnt give a shite what people thought off. and to be honest a lot of people pre-judged and made assumptions based on appearance. Now, imagine you see a group of teenagers knocking about now, the norm is to see them copying some hollywood film, or some primetime actress, cue hannah montana, miley cyrus etc. we consider this to be normal. Now, Twilight. Twilight sort of gives people the courage to be who they want to be. sounds daft, but hear me out. Bella in the film, seems normal, but she openly wants to be a vampire. the character isnt afraid of people perceptions or views, which is admirable. How many people can honestly say that they dont care about what other people think about them? Not a lot of people can. Vanity, image and perception are some traits that we cant shake off, we sometimes seem determined to want to control what we let others see about our personalities. why? is it a need to please all the time, and not be expected to trip up or stumble? personally, i try not let vanity and image bother me, although sometimes it does creep up on me. I love the twilight films, they connect people without them knowing, take this example. In the space of 7 days, i have convinced my uncle to watch the first 2 on dvd, and go the cinema see the 3rd one. he is 34, a joiner, and man's man. He loved them. and i know he did because he knew all the characters names, and started speculating on the next installment. but, there is a reason why i wanted to mumble about Twilight. MISTAKES. not as in mistakes in the film, but about a 3 minute scene in which we hear a inspiring talk about life and mistakes. i will discuss, and take any credit. so, we go through life making mistakes. its inevitable, and it is a good thing, and its a bad thing. so i made a mistake today, i wore a grey t-shirt to the gym! oh diddums! so basically, when i was sweating my arse off, you could see my shirt drenched in sweat. WAIT this might not necessarily(sp) be a mistake? you see, by me seeing how much i was sweating, it spurred me on to do more, because i could see the results of all my hard work!! so what initially was construed to be a mistake, actually wasnt! so why do we make these so called mistakes? well why not. a mistake is normally attributed to something which causes pain, sadness, or a general heartache, embarassment or a wrongdoing or incorrect answers etc.....but who decides if it is a mistake? well, there are in my opinion 2 types of outcomes for a mistake. the first is guaranteed mistakes. these are generally situations where proof is immediately evident, and so therefore instant conclusions are drawn, therefore rendering a mistake apparent, or not so. 2+2=5. MISTAKE-i know it is actually 4, therefore my knowledge outweighs the probability of a different outcome. the second, is a delayed outcome. the delay can be a minute, hour, month, year, decade etc. "i made a mistake by having a one night stand with someone!", definitley a mistake?? 18 years later-"i have a son, who means the world to me, this wasnt a mistake" so you can see 2 different outcomes. the point being to this? in my opinion, if you do not see a definitive conclusion straight away to what you perceive to be a mistake, then it isnt a mistake, its a path you have chosen. so if you book a train journey and you choose the wrong destination, you may have seemingly made a mistake, but what if the journey is now better than you expected? go ahead, and make your mistakes, but remember, they are not necessarily mistakes, they can be a path you have chosen subliminally, and they can be the best things you ever do. 2+2=4. peace x

Hunting!

I have just watched my little stormy cat chase a crow in the garden. And this little act of natures ways got me thinking yet again. A cats natural instinct is too chase birds and demolish them. But why? What's the point when whiskas make perfectly good cat food. As do felix. It's because of a little invention called science.

When cats are born they are programmed in the brain to kill birds and drink full throb full fat milk. So even though advances in technology mean cats have tinned food, they still chase birds. Do they do it for a laugh. I'm unsure. All I know is this. Cats chase birds.

So the next time u see an advert for a bargain bucket from kfc, don't take advantage of technology. Use the primitive part of your brain, chase a chicken and kill it, and devise your own secret recipe.

Stormy the cat says it's much more pleasing.

Fate

fate (countable and uncountable; plural fates)

the cause, force, principle, or divine will that predetermines events.
the effect, consequence, outcome, or inevitable events predetermined by this cause.
destiny (perhaps connotes death, ruin, misfortune, etc.)
Accept your fate

accept your fate eh?

what exactly is fate? is fate the little voice in your head that tells you just what is going to happen regardless? or is fate the proverbial bullet "with your name" on? fate could be the relationship that was just "meant to be"?. who knows.

what is my fate?and why are things panning out like they are? can i interfere with my fate, or is it really panned out in such a way that i will learn to see and accept? strange concept really i suppose. strange to think that there is a chance that my life is somehow already planned out. have you ever wondered what you will be doing in 10,15,20 years time? i know for a fact i have-more than once!

many reasons revolve around me asking these questions-some reasons that i will not write about on here though. fate is a bit like destiny i suppose, well no it is. destiny is a simplified word for fate, an easier concept to digest. so why am i really asking about fate? am i feeling uneasy about some things?yes. do i sometimes feel lost and rejected? yes. but am i doing enough to resist these recurring thoughts?no.

i am known for being loud, i wont think about what i say before i say it-ill just say it. what is the point in dressing words up if theyre not what you really mean?so if your chatting with me and i shock you with my words, just be thankful they are my honest words and not some prettied up bull.

i want to know my fate, because it is exciting to know what is going to happen! But then i think that sometimes id rather kick back, enjoy the ride, and see what pans out.

who knows-maybe its fate?
